Municipal Park
At Municipal
Park, the recreation opportunities include:
-Lighted tennis courts
-Open air shelters (the Kiwanis Shelter and the enclosed
Lion's Shelter)
-Over a mile of paved walkway
-A pond ( can be used for skating in the winter)
-Restrooms
-Sand volleyball
There are also two tot lots available. You can find one at the north end off Ludlow
Street and the other can be found at the south end at the end of Pine Street.
Paint Creek wanders through the whole park. The Rochester
Municipal Park is also home of the Rochester Community House, a not-for-profit
service and banquet facility. This facility is accessible from Ludlow Street.
Dinosaur Hill Nature
Preserve
Who wouldn't be interested in a park with
"dinosaur" in the title? Although you won't be digging up dino
remains here, a lot of fun and learning experiences can be had at this
dedicated 16 acres of parkland by the
city for the Dinosaur Hill Nature Preserve
and Nature Center.
The city has partnered with Dinosaur Hill Nature Preserve,
Inc. to provide programming for kids of all ages at the Nature Center. Dinosaur
Hill Nature Preserve, Inc. is a nonprofit educational corporation supported by
memberships, grants, donations, and fund raising projects. The preserve and
nature center are very much an central part of the Rochester community,
enjoying the support and volunteer help of Rochester area residents and
community businesses. Tons of volunteer time has been and continues to be spent
in creating and sustaining the preserve, as well as in helping with various
fund raising projects.
